Most entertaining deal or case:
“I was in charge of a due diligence exercise for a client and received the report and supposedly
complete file a few hours before I was due to leave on holiday. It was obvious to me that the
target company had double counted some of its assets and was seriously overpriced. I conducted
my end of the resulting meeting standing on skis up a mountain in the Alps.”
What I like about my job: “Contact with a huge variety of people – clients, colleagues and other professionals.” Proudest professional moments: “Devising a structure for the de-merger of part of a financial services group. The structure proved appropriate for the de-merged business, which has gone from strength to strength. As Managing Principal of Shipleys I presided over the modernisation of our business which included a move from inefficient old fashioned premises to a smart modern building and the introduction of our IT systems, which are now highly sophisticated, usable systems that enable us to operate more efficiently.” Interests outside work: Sailing, skiing, horse racing and reading. Guy has walked the Inca trail in Peru for charity, run half marathons in Berlin, Lisbon and Nice.
